The joint meeting of NRWO (formerly FRWO) and NDWMC was held at NDWMC's Headquarters with the agenda of drought control and combat desertification.

The joint meeting of National Drought Warning & Monitoring Center (NDWMC) and Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization (NRWO) with the agenda of drought control and combat desertification determining to boost the cooperation was held at NDWMC's Headquarters from 8.30 to 10.30 on Sunday, May 2, 2022.

According to NRWO's (FRWO's) website, the theme of 2022 Desertification and Drought Day “Rising up from drought together” has been announced which it emphasizes overcoming drought with public participation. With respect to the relationship between the drought and land degradation, in recent years, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has paid special attention to the issue of drought, so that the drought management is highlighted in the relevant strategic objectives. Therefore, with the aim of using the capacities of the National Drought Warning & Monitoring Center (NDWMC) as a member of the National Working Group on Combat Desertification and other national working groups active in the field of drought control and water resources management, the joint meeting with the agenda of drought control and combat desertification was held at NDWMC's Headquarters from 8.30 to 10.30 on Sunday, May 2, 2022.

In this meeting, Dr. Ahad Vazifeh, Head of the NDWMC, accompanied by his colleagues Mr. Hassan Nejad, Ms. Shiravand and Ms. Asgarzadeh, introduced the activities of the NDWMC, including monitoring rainfall, drought, the Standardised Precipitation-Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI), fire, stress. Hydrological Stress and Climate Change Impact in Arid Regions in the agricultural sector and etc... . It is worth noting that Dr. Vahid Jafarian, Director General of Desert Affairs Bureaue, Abdolhoseini & Badripour, while emphasizing the need for boosting the cooperation between two organizations (NRWO and NDWMC) in the implementation of the UNCCD combatting Desertification and specifically in the field of drought control, emphasized the active role of NDWMC in holding the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (WDCD).

In conclusion, considering that the activities of NDWMC can be an effective aid in monitoring natural resources, it was decided to boost the cooperation between NDWMC and Engineering and Studies Bureau of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization (NRWO/FRWO).
